SORCERY WILL BE REVIVED

“The New Testament warns that sorcery will be revived in the last days prior to the second coming of Jesus Christ and that the world will refuse to repent of it (Revelation 9:21; 18:23; 21:8; 22:15). Two Greek words are used, both translated “sorcery” in the King James Version: mageia (from which we get our word “magic”) and pharmakeia (from which we get “pharmacy” or “drugs”). A sorcerer takes drugs or practices forms of Yoga in order to reach an altered state of consciousness and to thereby contact “spirits” from whom he can gain “magical” knowledge and power. This revival of psychic power produces the counterfeit “great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect” (Matthew 24:24) that Jesus warned would be performed by false prophets immediately prior to His return. Paul provided further insight by indicating that in the last days modern “miracle-workers” would oppose the truth with occult powers like those of Pharaoh’s court magicians (sorcerers) Jannes and Jambres, who were able up to a point to duplicate the miracles that God did through Moses (2 Timothy 3:8).”
